SENIOR COLTS TOUR TO NEWQUAY

Good win today lads against Preston Grasshoppers - well done.

As discussed at Hoppers we are now going on tour to Newquay rather than Torquay as at this late stage we cannot get accomodation in Torquay. Leaving on Good Friday (21st March) returning Easter Monday (24th March). We plan to play a 15 a side match on the Saturday and enter a sevens tournament on the Sunday.
Total cost is £179 from which you can deduct any deposit paid last year for the French tour (Jamie has a list of those paid).
Because Easter is very early this year Jamie needs a £35 deposit from all tourists now (Dave Haigh and Jonny Tennant need to bring a £70 deposit as they did not pay the first one). He will be at the club on Thursday to collect from those tourists who haven't paid already. Obviously tourists are welcome to pay up the whole sum at this stage if that is easier.
Tourists confirmed as at 27th January :
Alex M
Nathan T
Joe F
Simeon
Dave Haigh
Jonny Tennant
Eddie Garlick
Tom Maltby
Josh Edwards
Calum Oakes
Kurtis Lindsay
Tom Raine
Mozza
Matt Pearson
Dave Green
Andy Isaacs
Marcus Hague
Sam Gibson
Tom Priestley
Matt Fenton
Jamie Maltby (tour organiser)
Shaun Priestley (press)
Dave Raine (accent translator)
Mark Fenton (waterboy)
John Tennant Snr (mickey mouser)
It is difficult to organise tours and sort the money out etc so can we all please assist Jamie as above.
There are places available for additional tourists (players and non-players) so please let me or Jamie know if you want to go.
Cheers

GLOSSOP SENIOR COLTS v PRESTON - URGENT

Firstly I need a very urgent response regarding my blog below concerning our proposed tour to Torquay. At present we have had a limited response - we cannot book unless we know we have a minimum of 27 travelling and we are short of that number at the moment. The itinerary is as below and the final cost is £142 after the deposit paid last year. We need to let the tour organiser know by this week if we want to go - please call or text me with interest on the number below. In view of the urgency I would also appreciate if players could let me know if they cannot go. If you do not respond then we will assume you cannot go - please pass on this message to the likes of Gibbo, Liam and Woody. Also let me know if any dads / guardians want to go as well.

Squad for Preston as follows - meet at the Club at 11.45.

SENIOR COLTS EASTER 2008 TOUR - URGENT!!

Jamie has been in contact with the tour company regarding options for a tour this season which will allow us to use the deposit we paid over last year for the French tour (which we had to cancel due to the cup final). The tour company has come up with a possible itinerary as follows :

Where : Torquay, Devon

When : Easter Weekend. 21st to 24th March.

What : Executive coach travel to and from Torquay. Three nights budget accomodation and breakfast. Two friendly fixtures. Transport to and from fixtures.

Cost : £170 approx less any deposit paid last year. No probs if you didn't sign up last year - you just pay the full amount.

The above price is based upon 30 people touring.

Due to Easter being very early this year we need to decide quickly if we want to book this trip. Can all tourists please check with their parents and/or employer to make sure they are free that weekend and let Jamie know by Thursday or Sunday this week if they want to go.

For those that don't know Torquay is a largish Devon seaside town famous for its warm microclimate, palm trees, golden beaches, fun nightlife, foreign language students and Basil Fawlty.

Cheers

Dave

ATTENTION SENIOR COLTS!

Nice win at the weekend and hopefully we can keep things going until the end of the season and then the cup competitions beyond.

As most of you will know Martin is off to Ghana for the best part of a year. He has been involved with the team from the time we used size three balls fulfilling the role of coach, organiser, driver, kit washer and many other duties. He will be first on the phone to find out how we are doing particularly after the cup final on the 6th May. I know you will join me in thanking Martin for all his work and good natured contribution - he will be revisiting Glossop from time to time which will no doubt give us the opportunity to thank him with a pint of finest.

During Martin’s absence the Africa Nations cup is taking place in Ghana – if you catch this event on satellite and see a tracksuit wearing ex-pat in the cheap stand trying to keep rhythm in the midst of a score of local dancing girls you will just know who it is (and he won’t care!). Those girls better have toe reinforcements in their boots!

Finally Redders had an enjoyable run out with the 3rds last Saturday. If any other squad member fancies a run out with the seniors on a Saturday let Dave know and he will pass on your details to selection. Playing with the seniors on a Saturday won’t affect selection or playing for the Colts on a Sunday.

Cheers

Dave
